11th Class Chapter No 15 - Employment and Unemployment in India- Problems and Policies in Economics for ISC

When we are using a four-type typology, we say that the types of unemployment are structural, frictional, cyclical, and seasonal.

Causes of unemployment
  • Occupational immobilities.
  • Geographical immobilities.
  • Technological change.
  • Structural change in the economy.

Therefore, a shift in the emphasis to mass consumer goods industries would generate more employment to absorb the unemployed labour force. Moreover, increase in the supply of such goods may help arrest the rising price-level and increase the economic welfare of the people.
