  • Gond art form is practices across central India in Mahrashtra, Chhatisgarh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. Gond artists depict their natural surroundings such as trees, animals, rivers, Indian mythology and even their daily lives, abstract emotions and contemporary issues. Gond paintings are characterised by precise outlines filled with dots and dashes which makes it look fluid and alive. Striking colours are used in Gond paintings and are extracted from natural materials such as flowers (red), tinted soils (yellow & brown), charcoal (black), leaves (green), plant sap and cow dung. The workshop will start with a brief introduction to the art, the artist, the materials used and its significance. Everyone will be provided basic materials such as paper, poster colours and brushes. The artist will also bring some of her work for sale with the proceeds going back directly to the artist in case you wish to support the art form!
