Saturday Star - Nihal Sarin

He is only 15 years of age, but he is already a Grandmaster. He is the youngest player currently holding a rating of 2600. World Champion at U-10 and Silver in the U-12 Championship.

Nihal won the gold medal in the World Blitz Championship in the Under-10 category in Al-Ain in 2013. He was the Rapid and Blitz gold medalist in the Asian Youth Championship in Tashkent in 2014.

His first major break came at the World Youth Championship  Under-10 category, which was held in Durban, South Africa in September 2014. He scored 9.0/11 to be crowned the Under-10 World Champion. he was conferred the Candidate Master (CM) title by FIDE

In World Blitz Championshop, Nihal scored 13.5/21 with a rating performance of 2777, taking the 11th place on tiebreak

Recently Nihal was in the news for signing up a sponsorship deal with Akshayakalpa and becoming the second highest sponsored chess player in India after Viswanathan Anand
