Here is all you need to know about the two levels of Mathematics for CBSE Board Exams 2020.
1.The curriculum for Mathematics Standard and Mathematics Basic continues to remain the same. All schools would continue to teach the same curriculum which corresponds to present Mathematics to all the students, giving them the opportunity to learn the same concepts and the same level of competence.
2.At the time of filling of the board examination forms students can choose to take up Mathematics Standard or Basic. The Basic level would be considerably easier.
while Standard Level corresponds to students who wish to continue Mathematics in higher secondary or classes 11 and 12.
3.These changs would be in turn be necessary for students wishing to take up science streams or commerce with math courses. The level of difficulty for higher secondary would not be changed. Students who take up Mathematics Basic would not be able to take Mathematics as a subject in classes 11 and 12.
4.Students who take up Mathematics Basic can opt to appear for Mathematics Standard in the Compartment examination conducted in July every year if they pass Mathematics Basic. This would be essential if they wish to pursue mathematics in classes 11 and 12.
5.In case the student fails the Mathematics examination, he/she can then opt to either grade down to the basic level for compartment examination or continue with the same level. The two levels of Mathematics is essentially for a child’s assessment in the subject. The assessment is limited to the board examinations. All children would be assessed at the same level of mathematics in Class IX.
The same has been implemented in schools. Parents and students who wish to understand about the options available are advised to get in touch with the respective schools. The option is mandatory for all the schools and the must comply with the choices of the students.
